Victor Takehara
LEAD GUITAR
Victor Takehara has been playing guitar for over six decades, and his passion for music runs deep. Inspired by watching The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show, Victor—like so many others of his generation—picked up a guitar and never looked back. A pivotal moment in his musical journey came when, at just 15 years old, he saw Jimi Hendrix perform live at Sacramento State College. That experience left an indelible mark, setting him on a path shaped by the legendary guitar work of Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Ritchie Blackmore.
After years of playing in various bands, including his previous group Damaged Goodz, Victor briefly considered retiring from performing. But fate had other plans. A call from his longtime friend Juan Ortiz reignited his love for playing in a band, leading to the formation of Petty and Friends. What Victor enjoys most about the group isn’t just the top-tier musicianship—it’s the chemistry and camaraderie among the members. The band’s energy, combined with the joy of performing live, keeps him coming back for more. And, of course, it’s always a great excuse to buy more gear! Whether he’s trading licks with rhythm guitarist Titus “Stretch” Gall or delivering the bluesy growl of his Stratocaster, Victor brings a signature sound that’s both powerful and melodic.
Above all, Victor hopes audiences walk away from each performance having had a great time, whether they’re dancing or simply soaking in the music. For him, it’s all about sharing the joy of rock and blues with good friends—both onstage and in the crowd.
